Psychological workshops in contemporary theory and practice

Psychological workshops (psikhologichesky trening) have become increasingly popular and widely used in both educational contexts and workplace settings. This growing relevance highlights the need to clarify the core approaches to defining this concept and to identify the specific characteristics that distinguish psychological workshops as a form of group-based psychological work. The article explores the works of Russian authors to analyze the definitions of psychological workshops. It is shown that the available definitions can be distinguished based on the practical tasks that their authors believe psychological workshops aim to solve, and based on the focus on identifying specific and unique characteristics of psychological workshops as a form of working with a group. The article analyzes the issues studied at different stages of the evolution of psychological workshops as a special method of psychological practice. The criteria are proposed that make it possible to distinguish psychological workshops from other forms of group psychological work: the purpose of psychological work, the mental health of participants, the duration of psychological work, and the ratio of substantive and socio-emotional aspects of psychological work.
