The level of moral development in older preschool children with developmental delay

This article examines the assessment of moral development in older preschool children with developmental delay. The authors highlight the importance of developing moral qualities during preschool childhood. Such development is crucial for the successful social adaptation and integration of children with developmental delay. The article presents the results of an empirical study exploring how moral beliefs and actions are expressed in older preschool children with developmental delay, compared with their typically developing peers. It analyzes children’s understanding of moral norms, empathy, benevolence, and their ability to evaluate their own and others’ actions from a moral perspective. The study concludes that specialized developmental programs should be designed and implemented, taking into account the cognitive and emotional characteristics of children with developmental delay, to ensure the focused development of their moral values and behavioral norms. Practical recommendations are provided for teachers and parents on creating conditions that support the moral development of older preschool children with developmental delay.
