Introduction. The sociocultural educational environment of a university exerts a significant influence on students’ professional self-determination, academic motivation, and socialization. Growing competition for applicants’ attention prompts universities to increasingly adopt strategies to present their educational environment through public communication channels, particularly via the news discourse on their official websites. The study aimed to analyze the components of the educational environment represented in the news of leading pedagogical universities in Russia, drawing upon a three-component model (content-methodological, spatial-semantic, and communicativeorganizational components). Materials and Methods. The empirical material consisted of 12,391 news publications posted on the official websites of pedagogical universities between February and April 2025. The research methodology was based on qualitative content analysis, followed by categorization and attribution of identified events to the structural components of the socio-cultural educational environment. Results. The highest representation in the news content was observed for the content-methodological component, which reflects educational and research practices, the outcomes of students’ professional training, as well as teaching and scholarly activities. The communicative-organizational component was manifested through texts describing universities’ interaction with external partners and students’ participation in competitions, Olympiads, and forums. The spatial-semantic component was expressed through the representation of cultural traditions, symbolism, and the meanings associated with pedagogical activity. Overall, the news discourse was found to be characterized by co-eventfulness and dialogicity, indicating universities’ efforts to construct the image of an open and dynamically developing sociocultural educational environment. Conclusions. The study demonstrated that the news discourse of pedagogical universities serves as an important resource for representing the sociocultural educational environment. The scientific novelty of the research lies in applying the three-component model of the environment to the analysis of media texts. The obtained results can be utilized for the strategic positioning of universities and the formation of their public image.
