The representation of Nordic history in the early modern period in contemporary school textbooks

This article examines the representation of the history of the Nordic countries from the 16th to the early 20th centuries in contemporary school history textbooks. The analysis shows that general history textbooks for Grades 7, 8, and 9 contain very limited information on the main trends in the development of the Nordic region during the early modern period, addressing its history primarily within the framework of international relations. At the same time, more recent textbook series, despite certain inaccuracies, demonstrate a positive trend towards expanding the coverage of the history of Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Finland in the early modern period.
