Abstract

This article examines the ritual practices of the Evens as a fundamental element of ethnopedagogy playing a key role in the development of a child’s personality. Drawing on materials from the culture of the Even people inhabiting Siberia and the Russian Far East, the study highlights the ecological and humanistic principles underpinning human interaction with nature and society. Cultural heritage is central to the life of the ethnic group, having both cultural-religious and sociopsychological significance. The article describes the Evens’ various rites, rituals, omens and customs. To facilitate a comprehensive understanding of this culture, the study explores its historical and spiritual foundations, as well as their evolution and contemporary adaptations. The research offers insights into the cultural and historical heritage of the Evens and its significance for preserving ethnocultural distinctiveness in modern Russian society. The article contributes to interdisciplinary scholarship at the intersection of ethnography, cultural studies, folklore studies, and pedagogy. The aim of the study is to identify the characteristics of the Evens’ ritual heritage based on cultural texts. The research objectives are: to investigate the role of ritual heritage in the social existence of contemporary Evens as bearers of traditional culture; to analyze individual rituals as expressions of the socio-cultural memory of the Evens; and to identify the specific features of the ritual heritage of the Evens of Yakutia. This heritage significantly shapes the Evens’ mentality, reinforces the continuity of humanitarian values, and preserves traditions. The safeguarding of cultural heritage forms the foundation for the further development of society.
